Colorado State moved to the new Pac-12, and with a new head coach in Jim Mora. Wyoming is still in the Mountain West, and it’s looking for a good start after going 7-17 over the last two seasons.

The two programs are going in different directions now, but their Border War still continues in what should be one of the most spirited Week 1 openers.

Why Wyoming Will Win

It’ll be a contrast in rosters. Colorado State is starting almost all new, with lots and lots of players coming in from the transfer portal. Wyoming has a few key transfers coming in – most notably, William & Mary quarterback Tyler Hughes – but there should be good continuity on the lines.

The backfield has to take over. The Cowboy offense couldn’t score last year, but Hughes is a quick, dangerous playmaker, and the deep group of backs should be solid right away.

Why Colorado State Will Win

Under Mora, Colorado State will try to out-Wyoming, Wyoming.

Ball control, no turnovers, no mistakes, and it all works around an offensive line that was quickly put together and should be solid. On the other side, the line upgraded in, literally, a big way, with bulk coming in around 315-pound Western Kentucky transfer Robby Harrison on the inside.

Colorado State vs Wyoming Prediction, Betting Lines

Be floored if this is any sort of a shootout.

Both teams will want to control the tempo and the time of possession, but it’s all about how fast Colorado State’s talent can come together. The Rams are better, but the Cowboys should be more cohesive and consistent on both sides of the ball.

Jim Mora not only gets the win in his debut, it also comes against a rival.
