Colorado‘s recruiting staff has had an incredible few weeks, landing several commitments for its 2027 class and closing in on multiple other targets.
Three-star athlete Marquis Fennell is one Colorado target nearing a decision, with the Valdosta, Georgia, native setting June 25 as his commitment date. CU is in Fennell’s final four along with Florida State, Georgia Tech and Stanford.
247Sports Composite ranks Fennell as the No. 627 overall recruit, the No. 40 athlete and the No. 76 prospect from the state of Georgia. Fennell does own a Crystal Ball for Florida State, so Colorado does seem to be firmly behind the Seminoles, although crazier things have happened.
During his most recent high school season, Fennell totaled 1,480 rushing yards to go with 23 touchdowns, averaging 8.2 yards per carry. He also racked up 53 catches for 764 yards and 10 receiving scores.

At 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, Fennell would be considered a smaller running back, but a prototypical slot receiver. Colorado under Deion Sanders has favored those types, with Kam Mikell and Drelon Miller standing out as two players who spent plenty of time at running back and wide receiver.
Colorado’s 2027 recruiting class is up to No. 39 in the country with 14 hard commits, including four composite blue-chip recruits.
