Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders has earned a top-60 spot in The Sporting News' FBS head coach rankings.
Sanders, who owns a 16-21 record in Boulder, has brought Colorado back to national prominence during his three seasons despite the disappointing overall record. His persona and subsequent recruiting pull have changed how Buffs fans view their football program.
2025 was the worst of the three seasons for Sanders' Buffaloes, but entering 2026, there is optimism for CU, which revamped its coaching staff and roster with more experienced, productive talent.
Sporting News' Bill Bender ranked all 138 coaches in college football, placing Coach Prime at No. 54 overall. It is a significant drop for Sanders, who was ranked No. 39 a year ago.
Sanders came in ahead of Bill Belichick (No. 56) and Baylor's Dave Aranda (No. 55). He could not beat out his buddy at Syracuse, Fran Brown, who landed at No. 53.
