EA Sports is holding its rating release week as the lead-up to the launch of its new installment, College Football 27. On Monday, I saw the rankings of the toughest places to play, and on Tuesday, we'll get the full overall ratings for every school in the upcoming video game.

It is worth noting that teams typically receive different ratings in the game's play-now and dynasty modes. These initial ratings are strictly for the play now mode, with dynasty mode ratings becoming available when the game releases worldwide on July 9.

What is Colorado's College Football 27 overall rating?

Colorado's rating in play-now mode is 81 overall (No. 35 nationally), with an 81 offensive rating and an 82 defensive rating. That is down from an 82 overall last year.

Considering Colorado's talent level is tough to have increased this offseason, it is surprising to see the Buffaloes drop in overall rating, albeit just a notch. The departures of highly rated players Jordan Seaton and Omarion Miller certainly did not help, especially with Seaton being one of the highest rated players in the game a year ago.

Top Big 12 teams

Texas Tech, at 87 overall, tops the Big 12, with BYU (86), Houston (83), Oklahoma State (83) and Arizona (82) rounding out the top 5. Colorado comes in right after Arizona State (81) as the seventh-highest rated Big 12 program, surprisingly ahead of Utah (81). West Virginia (78), Iowa State (77) and Kansas (77) are the three lowest-rated teams in the Big 12.

Colorado enters its fourth season under head coach Deion Sanders after a disappointing 3-9 season in 2025. The Buffaloes' season begins on Sep. 3 against Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
