Corn Nation Overreaction: Digesting the Huskers’ 49-21 Season-Opening Win

On this week’s Corn Nation Overreaction, Jake and Greg break down the season-opening win over the Ohio Bobcats.

49-21. Nebraska covered the spread. On paper, it looks like a big, bad victory. But if you watched the game, you may have…concerns. It wouldn’t be the most unheard of thing for an upstart from the Mid-American Conference to go into a Big Ten stadium and cause a ruckus. But Ohio is a capable opponent and will likely challenge for the MAC crown (though Western Michigan may have other ideas).

Here’s what it was from my eyes. A team that was locked in a battle at halftime made whatever changes they needed to to dominate their opponent in the second half. That has not always been the case with recent iterations of the Huskers.

It was also a coming out party for freshman Jamal Rule who ran for over 100 yards and scored three times in his collegiate debut. He was aided by a successful air attack as QB Anthony Colandrea threw for almost 300 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

But…that defense…we’ll talk about it.
