The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 65 days away, the number that no one wants to hear anymore.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 65 at LSU:

No. 65 – OT Sean Thompkins Jr.

Not only did the Tigers bring in a lot of new starters across the offensive line, they also built in some depth. That appears to be where Thompkins comes in, an offensive tackle with 11 appearances and five Big-12 starts under his belt. It's not the most experience, but it's some.

It also showed that Thompkins could certainly use some more development before becoming an everyday starter, which is fine because he will be able to get at LSU. Jordan Seaton is the starting left tackle, full stop, so Thompkins will be able to sit behind him for a year and learn.

The Georgia native is a redshirt junior, though, so he'll only have two years of eligibility left. It wouldn't be too surprising if this is a development year for him, and then he transfers again to try to start his final year of college football.

Coming out of high school, he was a three-star guard. The 247Sports composite rankings had him as the No. 627-ranked player in the country, No. 54 interior lineman and the No. 62 player out of the state of Georgia.

He had originally committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels out of the transfer portal, but just 10 days after that he flipped to the Tigers. He definitely took a hit in playing time right away, but the Tar Heels have a lot ways to go before they can actually compete for anything. LSU will have better resources to develop him, and then he will have a chance to start next season.

Through 460 snaps last year, Pro Football Focus has Thompkins as having allowed four sacks and 18 pressures in 250 pressures. That isn't the most efficient pass protection, and the Tigers certainly wouldn't want to go into next season with that, but they won't have to.
