The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 84 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 84 at LSU:

No. 84 – WR Tyree Holloway

Part of rebuilding this wide receiver room after only one player returned was finding good depth players to go along with the stars that they brought in. Holloway wasn't a splash signing, but comes in as a former Division II star hoping to break out to the next level.

Holloway comes to the Tigers as a 5-foot-10, 174-pound redshirt junior out of North Carolina. Given that he was a small receiver from a small school, it's not shocking that he was overlooked coming out of high school, as he was a 0-star player, not registered by 247Sports. They would eventually rank him as a three-star transfer.

The wideout signed with the Chowan University Hawks out of high school where he grabbed 22 catches for 476 yard and five touchdowns. He then transferred to the West Florida Argonauts, before an injury derailed his sophomore year. Last year, he was a team leader with 34 catches for 661 yards and eight touchdowns.

Highlighting Former Players Who Wore No. 84

TE Foster Moreau (2015-2018)

Moreau is an all-time Louisiana football player. He has never really put up big numbers, but he's been a valuable player and has had a long career of playing in the state. He had his time with LSU, where he would eventually don the iconic No. 18 jersey. He was a fourth-round pick by the Oakland Raiders back in 2019, but eventually signed with the New Orleans Saints, where he spent a few years.

When he first signed with the Saints back in 2023, he was actually diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. He stepped away shortly, but his treatment was successful, and he came back to football after going into full remission. He signed with the Houston Texans this offseason.

DE Marcus Spears (2001-2004)

Spears is one of the biggest Ex-Tiger player personalities. He is always entertaining on ESPN and was dominant on the field as a defensive lineman. He was a two-time first-team All-SEC member and was a first-round pick in 2005. He would go on to have a lengthy NFL career. His son, Marcus Spears Jr., is the No. 1 player in the 2027 high school basketball recruiting class. LSU is in the mix to sign him.
