The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 33 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 33 at LSU:

No. 33 – S Isaiah Washington

Washington is a part of Lane Kiffin's first high school recruiting class, but this is a classic Tigers athlete at defensive back. He is a 6-foot-2 track star and basketball player, which is all that really needs to be known as to why LSU went after him. He also knows about winning, as he has state championships in football, the triple jump and hurdles.

All signs point to Washington being a very explosive talent on the football field. He was a three-to-four star recruit depending on the service, possibly because he split time between defensive back and quarterback, but the ceiling is there at safety for him.

Washington probably won't see the field for a while, but will sit and develop behind a strong room of veteran safeties. Remember the name, because it's hard to imagine him not finding the field in some capacity at some point. Especially with a coaching staff with so much creativity in their game planning.

Former Players Who Wore No. 33

LB West Weeks (2022-2025)

It's something that got lost in the time he spent in Baton Rouge, but Weeks didn't come to the Tigers at first. He spent his first season with the Virginia Cavaliers before transferring in right after LSU offered Whit Weeks. The rest is history, as the Weeks family has made their mark on the school.

West was a great depth piece for most of his career, but took over and broke out as a senior. He had 74 tackles, 8 TFLs and 2.5 sacks last season. While he didn't get drafted, the Indianapolis Colts did sign him. He'll compete to make the roster or practice squad in training camp.

S Jamal Adams (2021-2025)

Adams is one of the single best defensive backs in school history. He picked up 209 tackles, 17.5 TFLs, 2.0 sacks and five interceptions over three seasons before being drafted sixth overall by the New York Jets in 2017.

While in college, he was an All-SEC and All-American multiple times. In the NFL, he was an All-Pro and in the Pro Bowl multiple times. In his peak, he was one of the best football players on the planet. Injuries sort of derailed his career, but he has stuck around as a depth player and has now switched to linebacker. He signed with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason.
