Oregon's quarterback room is probably the best in the country by a somewhat wide margin when we factor in just Dante Moore and Dylan Raiola.
There is no reason why Oregon won't be a top-five team in the country because of Moore and some of the other stars they have on both sides of the football, but it's also promising to know that after this season, Raiola can take over, if things go as planned, and Oregon shouldn't really miss too much of a beat.
It also sounds like Dan Lanning has done a very good job of bringing in coaches who have done enough in their careers to help out these players.
Quarterback development isn't easy in college football, which is part of why I think Raiola decided to transfer to Oregon in the first place. He looked decent at Nebraska at times, but there were other points where it felt like he was going to be a better player and simply wasn't.
Regarding Moore, he's really happy with what offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer has done for him. It sounds like there's a lot of trust between the star and Oregon's offensive coordinator, which is just as big of a relationship as anything else in the building.
"I would say preparation is of course the biggest thing, especially as a quarterback or even just a athlete in general. It's just also trust what coach (Drew) Mehringer has within me, and of course what I have within him is being able to go out there on the field and see defensive looks that we've watched and filmed, even from other teams or even what our team does. And when we go out there on the field and just trusting what we've been taught and coached."
"And being able to go out there and if the play works, you know we're happy, and if the play doesn't work, we just go back to the film room and say, 'Hey, how can we change it to you know to be better?' But yeah, that's just the game of football. The defense has been pushing us really well. They've been making great, great plays, and we've been making great plays as well,” Moore said.
The coolest part about Oregon's offense is that it is very creative, and that's not easy to implement in college football.
Running motions and other things can get confusing for young kids, especially in this transfer portal era when guys aren't used to offenses for multiple years. Moore has been here for a couple of seasons now, so he obviously has this under his belt, but it's nice to see that things are continuing to run smoothly.
