Dante Moore versus Julian Sayin: Which quarterback will test USC’s secondary more? That is a debate that only continues to get more interesting as this offseason continues. Unfairly for the USC Trojans this season, they have to face both Moore and Sayin. Here is my take on which quarterback will be the tougher one to face.

Julian Sayin was a Heisman finalist, and he led his Buckeyes team to the Big Ten Championship Game and the College Football Playoff in his freshman season. It was as good a season as one could hope for right out of the gate. In the big games, however, his age did show. The Indiana Hoosiers and Miami Hurricanes’ elite defenses were able to force him to beat them by himself. That resulted in the two Buckeye losses last season.

Dante Moore had a fantastic season, too, but he was also poor in the postseason. He got away with a bad showing vs Texas Tech due to how dominant his defense was. He was not that lucky against the national champion, the Hoosiers.

If it is just a stats battle, Sayin is the better quarterback, but Dante Moore has traits that will make him a franchise quarterback after this season. The Trojans defense can hone in on Julian Sayin and rattle him out of his game. Even with Jeremiah Smith and other weapons, if Sayin gets rattled, the Buckeyes offense is in big trouble.

Dante Moore is a quarterback who is coming into this season with more to prove, but he has all the intangibles to withstand fierce gameplanning. When he is at his best, there is nothing the defense can do to stop him in the pocket. This season, I think Moore will be the quarterback who will give the Trojans the most problems. Gary Patterson still will have to make sure his defense is prepared vs both quarterbacks because they both can win that matchup all by themselves.
