Georgia football offensive coordinator Mike Bobo received a contract extension in January that runs through the end of the 2028 season and includes annual increases in salary, according to information obtained this week in an amendment to his contact obtained by the Athens Banner-Herald in an open records request.

That came after a season in which Bobo was a finalist for the Broyles Award for nation’s top assistant coach.

Bobo’s contract was to run through June 30, 2027 but the extension he signed on Jan. 12 now goes through Jan. 31, 2029.

Bobo will make $2.2 million this year, as reported in March.

His total pay will rise to $2.3 million on Feb. 1, 2027 and $2.4 million on Feb. 1, 2028 after the extension.

Defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann also got a contract extension in January that adds another season to his deal through the end of the 2028 season.

He had been under contract through June 30, 2028 and the extension now goes through Jan. 31. 2029.

Schumann is being paid $2.2 million this year. His pay, like Bobo’s, will go up each of the next two years to $2.3 million on Feb. 1, 2027 and $2.4 million on Feb. 1, 2028.

Bobo last received an extension before the 2024 season. Schumann got a contract extension before the 2025 season.

Bobo is entering his fourth season in his second stint as offensive coordinator.

Georgia has won back-to-back SEC championships and reached the College Football Playoff for the second year in a row.

Georgia’s offense averaged 32.1 points per game in 2025 which ranked sixth in the SEC. The Bulldogs averaged 182.1 rushing yards per game, up from 124.4 in 2024.

Bobo coached first-year starting quarterback Gunner Stockton, who finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting.

Schumann is starting his fourth season as defensive coordinator. He’s been an assistant since coach Kirby Smart’s first season in 2016. He was co-defensive coordinator with Will Muschamp in 2022.

Both Bobo and Schumann’s recent contract amendments include a new paragraph related to discussing NIL deals with recruits or current players.

It states that they “shall not solicit funds, donations, or other financial support, either directly or indirectly, from any third party for the benefit of the Association or the Team without the prior written approval of the Athletic Director.” It also states that they “shall not discuss the terms of any name, image, and likeness license agreement with any student-athlete, currently enrolled or prospective, or their representatives without the prior written approval of the Athletic Director.”
