Deion Sanders has lost his team and possibly his program heading into a pivotal game vs. Texas Tech.
Deion Sanders came to Boulder with high expectations and a lot of pomp and circumstance.
He might leave with a lot less.
The Colorado Buffaloes are set to take on Texas Tech this weekend in a make-or-break game in the Big 12 Conference standings. And they will do so with a new starting quarterback, according to a report by ESPN.

In addition to announcing recently that several players had been booted from the program, Sanders made a change at the quarterback position. Five-star stud Julian Lewis has been benched in favor of Isaac Wilson.
Colorado Faces Must-Win Situation As Underdog
It is not going to be easy for Wilson, the Buffaloes or Sanders this week. Texas Tech is ranked in the Top 15 in the country and owns wins over Oregon State and Houston.
The Red Raiders were trendy preseason picks before losing Brendan Sorsby. Will Hammond has stepped in, throwing for nearly 1,000 yards and four touchdowns.
But this is a winnable game for Colorado.
Hammond has been picked off five times and the ground attack is averaging under five yards per carry.
Texas Tech only beat Oregon State by 11 and Houston by two with a late defensive stop on a potential tying two-point conversion.
Deion Sanders Seemed On The Right Path To Start
Things appeared to be trending upwards for Colorado. They opened the season with a thrilling road win over Georgia Tech and blasted Weber State.
Then it happened.
Players were caught on film mocking the crowd at Northwestern. The Wildcats promptly went out and scored a 41-7 victory. A 23-13 loss at Baylor followed.
The schedule is going to be tough, as they are set to play three straight ranked opponents. After Texas Tech, Utah visits Boulder followed by a road trip to Oklahoma State.
Kansas State, Arizona State, Houston, Cincinnati and UCF round out the schedule.
Should ‘Prime’ Have Left When He Had The Chance?
Sanders was a hot topic for several coaching jobs after going 9-4 in his second season with Colorado. They reached a bowl game and finished 7-2 in the Big 12 Conference. Since then, the Buffaloes are 5-11 with just one league win to boot.
The shine is definitely off for Sanders now. And, approaching 60 years old, has the game passed him by completely?
Lewis came to Colorado as one of – if not the No. 1 – players in the country. He had committed to USC before decommitting and signing with Colorado. Through eight games and six starts, he is just 2-4, but has thrown for over 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns with just two interceptions.
The big play, though, hasn’t been there. Lewis is averaging under eight yards per pass and brings nothing to the run game.
Wilson, a former Utah high school standout who won two state titles, transferred from Utah. He also has struggled, but carries strong family genetics, as his brother, Zach Wilson, was a star at BYU and was picked No. 2 in the 2021 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
