DL Kavarris Duncan flips his commitment from Tulane to Alabama

Kavarris Duncan thought his recruitment was settled. The 2027 defensive lineman from Winterboro (Ala.) committed to Tulane back in June and was moving forward with the Green Wave. Then Alabama watched his senior film, increased its interest and changed the direction of his recruitment in a matter of days.

Duncan has flipped his commitment from Tulane to Alabama, giving the Crimson Tide a 6-foot-1, 315-pound addition to its defensive front.

Alabama’s push came together quickly. The Crimson Tide began seriously recruiting around the middle of September, they had him on campus for the Florida State game, and that is when the offer was presented.

It was one he had dreamed about for years and he is now part of the Crimson Tide’s class.

“Bama has always been a big thing in my life since I was a kid,” Duncan told Rivals. “It’s a family thing, and it was put into me at a young age. We always watched Bama. That was one reason I chose Alabama.

“Then it is just the place, the fans and how they operate the program. I also love the Bama standard. They do hard workouts in the early morning workouts and I’m built for Bama.”

Duncan grew up watching Alabama and made trips to Tuscaloosa for games as a kid. Long before he developed into a Division I prospect, playing for the Crimson Tide was something he envisioned.

That history made Alabama difficult to turn down once the opportunity became real. The Tide’s staff saw enough on Duncan’s senior tape to make a late move. Duncan then returned to campus, spent time around the program and ultimately decided to change his commitment.

Tulane had done plenty right throughout his recruitment, but Duncan acknowledged immediately after receiving the Alabama offer that the Crimson Tide presented a different opportunity.

“When you talk about Bama, it’s just Bama,” Duncan said. “The standard it takes to be here means a lot.

“I’m going to make a big impact very soon at Bama. I just love everything about the place. I’m destined to be there.”
