Eagles' Jalen Hurts Named Honorable Mention in Clutch QB Rankings

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was named an honorable mention on Bleacher Report's list of the NFL's top 10 most clutch quarterbacks.

"The three-time Pro Bowler has a 104.2 third-down passer rating in the second half of one-score games since 2023. And in the fourth quarter of one-score games during that span, he's rushed for 34 first downs (ranking second among all NFL players). The problem? He has a league-high nine interceptions under those circumstances the last three years," Bleacher Report wrote. 

A talented runner and thrower, Hurts finished the 2025 season with 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He completed 64.8% of his passes.

The Eagles signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension in April 2023. However, there is little guaranteed money left on Hurts' deal after the 2026 season.

Hurts enters this season with 17,891 passing yards, 110 passing touchdowns, 3,554 rushing yards and 63 rushing touchdowns in his career. He's made the Pro Bowl three times and won Super Bowl LIX MVP against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Eagles open the 2026 season at home against the Washington Commanders. All eyes will be on Hurts and Sean Mannion to see how they do in their first real game together. 

"Jalen's been awesome," Mannion said. "I really think he can do anything we ask of him. He's accurate. He's a great athlete. He really attacks the fundamentals. That's what's been really fun to watch these last two weeks of Phase 2. He's always wanting more things to work on, wanting more things regarding fundamentals, timing, understanding the scheme. He's hungry for more. Those are the guys that are really fun to work with."

Philadelphia traded A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots this offseason. Brown and Hurts used to be best friends. 

With Brown gone, DeVonta Smith is Hurts' new No. 1 WR. Hurts was at Smith's wedding this offseason, so the two are close. 

If Hurts plays well in 2026, the Eagles will make the playoffs again. However, if the star struggles, Philadelphia could crumble without Brown.
