The most anticipated clash of the college football season is set for Saturday night. LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is returning to Oxford after leaving Ole Miss right before the College Football Playoff.

Kiffin has found himself in many headlines over the last few weeks, and he is going to hear it when he coaches this weekend. But ahead of their showdown, Colin Cowherd raised another issue, taking a shot at Ole Miss for banning LSU colors in their student section.

Colin Cowherd Rips Ole Miss for Banning LSU Gear From Student Section

Ole Miss is not playing around. Kiffin abandoned them right before one of their biggest games in recent history, and the Rebels don’t want anybody in their student section rooting for the enemy. If anyone in the student section is caught wearing any purple or gold this weekend, they will be removed.

Cowherd doesn’t agree with this move at all and thinks it’s sending the wrong message to the team.

“It’s disrespectful to Pete Golding and the staff that you can’t control yourself. You have a top 10 team and the best quarterback to watch in the nation. You can’t move on… You got dumped! It’s ok!” said Cowherd.

The Rebels are still pretty miffed with Kiffin, it would appear. It’s going to be an atmosphere driven by hatred from the betrayal.

But Cowherd doesn’t think the focus should be on who’s where in the stadium; it should be on Pete Golding’s Rebels squad, which is ranked in the top 10 in the nation and an electric watch. But Kiffin is still living rent-free in the heads of Ole Miss fans.

“Support your team. I mean, the fact that no one can wear an LSU cap in the student section, embarrassing,” said Cowherd.

Well, it would be surprising if Ole Miss students were repping any LSU gear, but it would not be out of the realm of possibility if there were no restrictions on that in the stadium on Saturday.

Kiffin has played his mind games with Ole Miss this week, too.

He listed QB Sam Leavitt as doubtful earlier in the week before eventually upgrading Leavitt’s status to questionable and subsequently removing his name from the injury report. Leavitt will play, but Kiffin’s mind games forced the Rebels to prepare for multiple quarterbacks. He also had LSU students at his practice to replicate the hostile environment the Tigers will face in Oxford.

The top-10 clash is going to be a special watch. The SEC showdown could prove pivotal down the stretch for two teams looking to make the College Football Playoff and the SEC Championship Game.

It could be the wildest atmosphere of the season as the Rebels look to exact revenge while Kiffin looks to continue his villain arc with a win on the road at his old home.
