ESPN's College Gameday All Pick Texas to Defeat Ohio State

The top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are on the road in Week 2, taking on the fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns in a highly anticipated matchup. Ahead of the game, ESPN's College Gameday crew all picked Texas to get the win.

This should give the Buckeyes more fuel going into the matchup as they look to improve to 2-0.

Ohio State had a dominant win in Week 1, as they defeated Ball State 56-3. The Buckeyes' Heisman Trophy contenders got off to a great start as quarterback Julian Sayin completed 21 of 25 passes for 320 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions, and Jeremiah Smith had eight receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

The Longhorns also got off to a great start, defeating Texas State 59-7 in Week 1. Arch Manning proved why he will also be in the mix to win the Heisman, as he completed 20 of 27 passes for 305 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception.

This is a pivotal matchup as it could set the tone for both teams in the 2026 season. It can also impact where each team is seeded in the College Football Playoff at the end of the year.

Ohio State defeated Texas in the season opener last season, 14-7. In that game, Sayin completed 13 of 20 passes for 126 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions. Smith had six receptions for 43 yards, but it was the Buckeyes' defense that led them to victory.

Ohio State did a great job against Manning, who completed 17 of 30 passes for 170 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. On the ground, Manning added 38 yards on 10 carries.

While the matchup last season was low-scoring, both quarterbacks have developed and will play at a much higher level this time around. It could be a much higher-scoring affair this time around.

The Buckeyes and Longhorns are two of the top teams in the country, and this matchup could have major implications for the College Football Playoff.

While Ohio State enters as the top-ranked team, many think Texas will come out on top, including the entire College Gameday crew.
