There’s no question the Wolverines need to step up the passing game in 2026 if they want to win more games. New head coach Kyle Whittingham and company seem to agree. In addition to retaining Andrew Marsh, they brought in JJ Buchanan and Salesi Moa from Utah, and Jaime Ffrench from Texas via the transfer portal.

Earlier this week, we asked you on The Feed who you think will lead Michigan Football in receiving yards in 2026. The unit looks like it’ll have more options for Bryce Underwood this year, but which player will lead in yards come the season’s end?

Sophomore WR Andrew Marsh will be the leader

It might not surprise anyone that Marsh took the most votes in Monday’s poll (80 percent). Given his improvement and consistency at the end of the year, Wolverines fans are filing his name away and expect big things from Marsh this season. He played in 13 games last year and recorded 45 catches, 651 yards and four touchdowns. He didn’t have the most outstanding start to the season, but by the end of the year, everyone knew his name.

SonicsAaron: “The answer is obvious. It’s Marsh. No one else will come close to his production, I assure you.”

GideonC: “Marsh 🥇 WR1 … until proven otherwise.”

Sophomore transfer WR JJ Buchanan

While we know what Buchanan (11 percent of our vote this week) was able to do at Utah, not many people think he’ll lead the team in yards. He had 26 catches for 427 yards and five touchdowns in his freshman season in 2025. While he might not have had the same production as Marsh, he is expected to be a reliable target for Underwood in 2026.

MIandTRUMBULL: “Marsh in yards but Buchanan in TD Recs. I think we’ll pass more in the Red Zone and JJ is a prime target. Passing game will be more explosive and better schemed, but I don’t think that necessarily means a lot more attempts.”

Sophomore transfer WR Jaime Ffrench

Unlike Buchanan and Marsh, Jaime Ffrench (five percent of the vote) doesn’t have the same kind of production from his freshman season. He only played in four games at Texas, catching one pass for six yards. Still, he was an elite recruit and is still expected to make some contributions to the team this season. If Marsh and Buchanan get more attention from opposing defenses, it could actually open up Ffrench for more targets.

Spinsynco: “…I thought and voted French because of his TE qualities to get open in space short yardage but will probably be a third down and td threat. More so than deep yardage or long routes.”

Ryan 2288: “Wouldn’t put it passed French but I think Marsh is the better pure athlete out of the bunch other than maybe Moa. JMO”

Freshman Salesi Moa

Listen, I’ll always root for a freshman to have an incredible first year in college. But with all the options for Underwood to suddenly choose from in the passing game, not many of you (four percent, in fact), expect Salesi Moa to have enough of a breakout season to lead the team in yards. He was at Top 50 player nationally and the No. 1 player in Utah in this recruiting class, so he certainly has the talent and athleticism to eventually make a big difference in Michigan’s passing game, but it likely will not happen in 2026.

whereisfrankstallone: “Moa looks special.”

We’ll have another poll for you to weigh in on next Monday, so keep an eye out for that. Let us know any other thoughts you have about this week’s poll in the comments below!
