Enthusiasm for the Penn State whiteout game may have fizzled out in recent weeks after Penn State jumped out to an 0-2 record in Big Ten play after last week's debacle against Northwestern, but a primetime game in the national spotlight could be the perfect time for Penn State to reignite the season. Penn State hosts USC on Saturday night as the Trojans make their first visit to Beaver Stadium since 1994 and for the first time as a Big Ten opponent.
The Trojans bring a dangerous offense to the game but are faced with some concerns about the defense. Can Penn State find its offense against the Trojans and pull off a big win against a ranked opponent in the whiteout game?
Here are our final score and player of the game predictions for Penn State's Week 6 game against USC, along with some brief thoughts on the matchup.

The last couple of weeks have set off some serious alarms for me about Penn State, and that does not fill me with a great amount of confidence in the Nittany Lions going into this matchup against USC. The Trojans have struggled with the defense this season but I'm not seeing the firepower necessary to keep things too competitive with the Trojans on Saturdya night. After Northwestern ran all over Penn State's defense, I think the Trojans would be smart to try mimicking that with King Miller setting the tone on the ground and allowing Jayden Maiava to do his thing with the passing game. Kayden Dixon-Wyatt of USC will be a problem all nigth for the Penn State defense.
Final score prediction: USC 27, Penn State 20
Player of the game pick: Jayden Maiava, USC quarterback

This hurts to predict, but I just don’t see a way Penn State wins this game. The offense should be able to get back on track against a weaker defense, but if we couldn’t stop Northwestern’s offense, then I’m terrified to see what USC does.
Final score prediction: USC 38, Penn State 27
Player of the game pick: Chase Sowell, Penn State wide receiver

It feels like the gig is up for the Nittany Lions. What should be a celebration of one of college football's greatest modern traditions could turn into a State College massacre. I don’t think that there will be much resistance from the blue and white, but I could see young edge talent Yvan Kemajou flashing some potential.
Final score prediction: USC 37, Penn State 20
Player of the game pick: Yvan Kemajou, Penn State defensive end
