Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have done it again.

They landed their second five-star prospect of the week on Friday, receiving a commitment from defensive lineman David Folorunsho. The Chicago, Illinois product picked them over the Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Bulldogs, and Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Folorunsho is ranked as the No. 9 overall player and No. 2 defensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class by Rivals. He is also the No. 1 player from Illinois. He is their second-highest-ranked commit, behind five-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola, who committed on Tuesday.

Notre Dame worked quickly to land Folorunsho after extending him a scholarship offer on Feb. 6. He visited several programs throughout the spring, making two trips to Notre Dame in April. The two trips allowed them to pull ahead in a tightly contested recruitment for one of the fastest-rising players in the country.

He had a productive junior season at St. Patrick High School before his recruitment took off. The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder recorded 56 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and 6.0 sacks.

Folorunsho is Notre Dame's 17th commitment overall and the second along the defensive line, joining four-star edge Aidan O'Neil. Thirteen of their commits are blue-chip prospects, and Rivals ranks the class as the 5th best in the country.
