Notre Dame football has made a big footprint in the state of Illinois, and that continued on Friday afternoon.

The Irish landed a massive commitment, as defensive lineman David Folorunsho made his verbal. The 6-foot, 3-inch and 280-pounder picked Notre Dame over Miami, Georgia and Texas Tech. He’s ranked as the nation’s No. 43 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, giving the Irish yet another mauler in the middle of their defensive line.

Having elite interior lineman has been a key to success for many teams, and now Notre Dame has one of the best in the country in its 2027 class. The Irish are now up to seventeen overall commits, one that ranks among the top groups nationally.

Folorunsho’s joining the group now gives Notre Dame six top-100 players, with plenty of others highly considering joining what is turning about to be another monster class under head coach Marcus Freeman.
