The addition of offensive line coach Phil Trautwein has been the biggest coup for Jon Sumrall, and he’s not done yet.

The 2027 recruiting class for the Florida Gators is coming on strong, and it’s getting better by the week.

Head coach Jon Sumrall has the Gators with the No. 6 class per 247 Sports, and they are taking things to another level. The biggest aspect of the class comes from the trenches. Offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller is the first five-star commitment on the offensive line since Martez Ivey in 2015, and they have three commitments in the top-10 of their position.

Their success has been mainly due to offensive line coach Phil Trautwein, and he’s making waves once again.

Florida Gators predicted to land commitment from four-star OT Kennedee Jackson

On Sunday, we learned that four-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson narrowed his list of schools down to seven, with the Gators being near the top of that. Just one day later, and a few days ahead of his January 10th commitment, Jackson received an expert prediction from Gators Online’s Corey Bender. It vaulted the Gators up from 12.4% to 81.6% per the Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Landing Jackson would be a huge coup for the Gators, as they continue to beef up the trenches. Jackson would represent the fourth top-100 overall player and the fourth offensive lineman in the top-10 at their respective position. Jackson is the No. 100 recruit and No. 8 offensive tackle in the class.

It’s a big deal for the Gators to get the expert prediction for Jackson, especially since his official visit will be this weekend, starting on Thursday, the 28th. There are never any guarantees when it comes to recruiting, but Trautwein’s hit rate with his top targets has been excellent, and Jackson could easily be the next one.

Keep an eye out for the other schools that also have Jackson lined up for an official visit:

  • North Carolina Tar Heels: June 5th
  • Georgia Bulldogs: June 12th
  • Auburn Tigers: June 19th
