A'mir Sears, the No. 1 overall recruit for the class of 2028, is preparing to reclassify to 2027, the Miami Columbus five-star athlete told 247Sports.

The expectation for Sears is that he will enroll early at whatever school of his choice in December, following the conclusion of his high school football season with Columbus. He also told 247Sports that he will make his decision on Friday at 5 p.m. ET on the CBS Sports college football YouTube channel.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 178-pound athlete's choice will be made between several finalists, including the Florida Gators. Besides Florida, other schools that are in the running to sign the blue-chip recruit include Auburn, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Syracuse and Texas A&M.

During his sophomore season, Sears totaled 61 tackles, 11 pass breakups, three interceptions, and a forced fumble while catching 42 passes for 942 yards and 11 touchdowns.
