Florida Must Be Mindful of Jadan Baugh's Touches During SEC Play

What a win for the Florida Gators against Ole Miss, showing that on both sides of the ball, it's not a team to mess with.

Florida looks like one of the better teams in the country, and head coach Jon Sumrall isn't content just yet.

It's going to take a lot more for Florida to get to where it wants to be, but the first couple of weeks of the season have been very promising, to say the least.

Florida has been able to do whatever it wants offensively, and a big part of that is because of what running back Jadan Baugh has done.

Baugh is arguably the best running back in all of college football, and as of now, frankly, looks to be the best. It'll be interesting to see what kind of player he becomes as SEC play continues, but there's no reason to think he won't keep finding success given what he's done over the past couple of weeks.

Against Ole Miss, he rushed 29 times for 142 yards and added a ridiculous three touchdowns.

As for how the offense wants to keep him healthy, however, making him rush nearly 30 times in a game is probably not ideal.

“Didn't have to do 35 and we want him to, right? That's not fair to him, not fair to us, not fair to probably his future to have to carry it that many times. We don't want him to have to carry it 35 times a game. There's a lot of football left to be played. Duke has been a guy that's flashed since we've been here.

“Again, it's just kind of getting comfortable playing and playing more. But you can see what he can do. I think he's as talented as anybody that I've been around. I think he was fun to watch,” Buster Faulkner said, per USA Today.

Not to say Baugh isn't going to be a guy who needs to be relied on later in the season, but Florida hopes it can get him to the end of the season as healthy as possible.

This was obviously a major game for the Gators, so going all out against a team like Ole Miss doesn't seem like much of a concern.

Hopefully, Florida can take care of business in a much easier way against some of the other top teams in the country, and not have to use him as much. The unfortunate reality, however, is that Florida arguably has the toughest schedule in the country remaining.
