Florida State has plenty of talented prospects expected in Tallahassee, but few visitors could carry more long-term importance than four-star 2028 quarterback Chandler Dyson.

The Warner Robins, Georgia, standout enters the weekend with Florida State sitting atop a recruitment that already features some of the biggest programs in the Southeast.

Dyson’s current top five consists of Florida State, Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia Tech and North Carolina. The Seminoles have positioned themselves well early, making this weekend another opportunity to strengthen an already promising relationship.

For Dyson, however, the visit isn’t simply about conversations inside the football facility. He wants to experience what Florida State football looks and feels like on a game day.

“I’m just ready for the environment during the game and the outcome of the hard work the team put in during the offseason,” Dyson told Noles247.

That makes this visit particularly important for Florida State.

The Seminoles have already made an impression on Dyson away from the game-day atmosphere. He participated in Florida State’s Elite Camp in June, throwing in front of head coach Mike Norvell and quarterbacks coach Austin Tucker. Tucker has emerged as a key figure in Dyson’s recruitment, with Florida State maintaining consistent communication since extending an offer.

Now Dyson gets to evaluate another piece of the equation.

He’ll have an opportunity to see how the Seminoles operate when the lights come on, how the crowd responds and, perhaps most importantly for a quarterback, how Florida State’s offense performs.

There’s plenty to like about Dyson as a prospect.

Listed around 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, he already possesses impressive size for a quarterback with two more high school seasons ahead of him. 247Sports rates Dyson as a four-star prospect and the No. 12 quarterback nationally in the 2028 cycle.

His sophomore production backs up that ranking.

Dyson completed 147 of 238 passes for 2,138 yards and 16 touchdowns during the 2025 season at Warner Robins. He also demonstrated his ability as a runner, carrying 60 times for 536 yards and four touchdowns. His performance earned him first-team Region 1-AAAA honors.

That combination of size and mobility gives Dyson the type of skill set that could make him an intriguing fit in Florida State’s offense. He’s capable of creating outside the structure of a play while possessing the physical tools to develop as a downfield passer.

Dyson also carries a 3.57 GPA, adding another positive piece to his profile.

There is still a long way to go in a 2028 recruitment. Dyson hasn’t even completed his junior season, and programs such as Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia Tech and North Carolina aren’t going away.

But quarterback recruiting often revolves around building relationships early, and Florida State has already accomplished that with Dyson.

This weekend represents the next step.

Florida State got Dyson’s attention during the offseason. Now the Seminoles have an opportunity to show one of their most important 2028 targets exactly what Saturdays in Tallahassee could look like if he eventually becomes the quarterback leading them.
