Florida football is surfacing as a candidate for three-star cornerback Brandon "Slim" Leavell. The 6-foot, 165-pound recruit from Goodpasture Christian School in Madison, Tennessee, tallied four interceptions in his junior campaign. A two-way player for the Cougars, Leavell also played wide receiver and hauled in 35 catches for 735 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Gators are trending up in Leavell's recruitment. The defensive back has become an important target for Jon Sumrall and his staff this spring. According to Swamp247, Florida has a "unique connection" with the Volunteer State native tied to the coaching staff — this tie has helped Florida strengthen its positioning.

New head coach Jon Sumrall and the Gators are surging on the recruiting trail in recent months. The program has landed 11 commitments since early April, propelling their team ranking near the top five. The 2027 class was ascended nationally after the signings of five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller and five-star running back Andrew Beard.

Brandon Leavell recruiting summary

Leavell is ranked No. 603 overall and No. 44 at his position according to 247Sports composite, while On3 industry rankings have him at No. 731 and No. 76, respectively. He currently has 22 offers, including four other SEC programs, including Tennessee, Ole Miss and Missouri.

The Volunteers currently have the highest probability of signing Leavell at 86.5%, followed by Clemson at 4.3%, Florida State at 2.8% and Florida at 2.4%.
