The Gophers football program gained a commitment from Lakeville South offensive lineman Joseph Hamer on Saturday.
The 6-foot-7, 320-pounder picked his in-state school over offers from Arkansas, Iowa State and Kansas State. Minnesota offered him in January and he plans to make his official visit in late May.
“After a great conversation with my family and coaches, I am blessed to announce my commitment to the University of Minnesota to continue my academic and athletic career,” Hamer wrote on social media.
Rivals analyst Allen Trieu said Hamer is “extremely flexible” for his massive size.
The projected offensive tackle is a three-star recruit considered to be the ninth-best player in the state. He is the 12th overall commit to the U’s class for 2027 and the sixth from Minnesota.
Hamer is the U’s second O-lineman after Cedar Rapids, Iowa native Will Clausen committed on April 19. The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder projected to be an interior lineman.
