Former Michigan QB Davis Warren named Stanford’s starter

It wasn’t always pretty for Davis Warren wearing maize and blue. Warren started nine games at quarterback for Michigan, going 6-3, but he also threw just seven passing touchdowns to nine interceptions and was part of arguably the worst Michigan passing offense this century. However, Warren now has another chance to be a starter — with the Stanford Cardinal.
“He’s dedicated and committed to not just who he is as a player, but how he can affect others as a leader, as the quarterback,” Stanford head coach Tavita Pritchard said. “I’m really excited for him.”
Warren’s first tilt will come against Hawaii, while his second game will be a lot more daunting versus the Miami Hurricanes, who appeared in the national championship last season. Warren, 24, is entering his sixth collegiate season and it’s mildly surprising that he has a chance to start again at a Power Five school. It’ll be interesting to see whether 2026 will be Warren’s best season yet, or if his stint as a starter is a short-lived exercise for Stanford.
