Mike Gundy is back. On TV, at least.
The former Oklahoma State football coach will make his debut this Saturday as part of TNT’s studio coverage of the Big 12 showdown between the Arizona Wildcats and West Virginia Mountaineers, according to Pokes Report.
Gundy, who was fired in the midst of his 21st season as Oklahoma State’s head football coach last September, appeared in ESPN’s coaches film room broadcast of the national championship game in January but hasn’t made many other media appearances. He’s also appeared on that broadcast before.
According to Pokes Report, Gundy chose the TNT/HBO Max opportunity over offers from ESPN and Fox Sports, as a studio analyst or game analyst, respectively.
Gundy is the winningest coach in Oklahoma State football history, leading the Cowboys to a Big 12 Conference title and 12 bowl wins. He was named Big 12 Coach of the Year three times and led the Cowboys to eight 10-win seasons, with only two losing seasons among his 21 years on the job.
The former longtime coach will join studio host Jordan Cornette and analysts Champ Bailey and Takeo Spikes on the broadcast, which kicks off at 10:30 a.m. ET. As Pokes Report notes, Gundy’s buyout last year may preclude him from discussing Oklahoma State, so don’t expect too much commentary from him about the 3-1 squad.
