Former player has been ‘huge addition’ to Michigan State staff

New Michigan State football head coach Pat Fitzgerald welcomed back former Spartan offensive lineman Matt Allen to his coaching staff in 2026. Allen was a standout center for the Spartans from 2017-2021, where he was named to the All-Big Ten honorable mention team in 2021.

Now, moving on from his playing career, Allen has turned to a career in coaching. He will begin his MSU coaching tenure as a volunteer assistant coach, working with the offensive lineman.

On Monday, after practice, Fitzgerald spoke to the media where he raved about the impact Allen has had on the team during camp.
