Former Washington Football QB Lands as Offensive Analyst at Ok. State

Former Washington Huskies quarterback Will Rogers has embarked on his coaching career as an offensive analyst at Oklahoma State.

Rogers began his playing career with the Mississippi State Bulldogs under the late coach Mike Leach, becoming the first true freshman quarterback to start for Leach in his two decades as a coach. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Brandon, Mississippi native went on to start 40 games from 2020-23 with 43 total appearances before he opted to transfer to Washington to play for former coach Kalen DeBoer, before staying with his commitment to the program to play for coach Jedd Fisch for the 2024 season.

During his four seasons in the SEC, Rogers set records for completions in a season (505 in 2001) and career (1,301) while being No. 2 in all-time career passing yards (12,315) behind ex-Georgia QB Aaron Murray.

Rogers proved to be an ideal bridge to hand the torch to Demond Williams Jr. as a mentor to the four-star freshman on and off the field while leading the Huskies to a Sun Bowl appearance against Louisville. His final year in college football saw him throw for 2,458 yards with 14 touchdowns and 7 interceptions over 11 games, which moved Rogers into No. 9 all-time in the sport with 14,773 career passing yards.

An Oklahoma State athletics spokesperson confirmed that Rogers has joined the Cowboys' staff ahead of the 2026 season as an offensive analyst. It's a role perfectly suited for the ex-UW and Mississippi State quarterback, with first-year Cowboys' coach Eric Morris familiar with his former coach in Starkville, having played for Leach himself at Texas Tech as a wide receiver.

Rogers is another familiar addition for Morris along with new offensive coordinator Sean Brophy—another former player of Morris at Incarnate Word—and senior offensive analyst/assistant quarterbacks coach Kevin Kilmer, who also worked with Morris in Lubbock.

He's not the only former Husky starting quarterback to turn into a college football analyst. Last year, Dylan Morris reunited with Kalen DeBoer at Alabama in a similar role, along with several other former Huskies from the 2023 season, including offensive lineman Corey Luciano.
