Pete Golding added to his 2027 recruiting class with a massive four star defensive lineman by way of Germany and Connecticut.

Marvin Nguetsop, 6’7” 265 lbs., grew up in Dusseldorf an ocean away from the likes of Oxford, Mississippi, but after playing high school football in Connecticut at St. Thomas More, he committed to the Rebels this weekend. First year head coach Golding is clearly going to continue to bring in talent on the defensive side of the football as long as he is at the helm.

Nguetsop marks the 11th commitment for the class of 2027 ranked in the top 25 nationally according to 247. He is the sixth four star commitment for that recruiting class for Ole Miss. He brings a large rangy frame with a near seven foot wingspan to the future defensive line.

Watching his highlight tape from last season, you can see the rising senior has several moves he employs from the edge. One is just using his pure speed to get outside leverage and get into the backfield before quarterbacks realize they are overwhelmed. He also has a solid swim technique in several of the highlights.

He has a few clips where he gets some good push and shows some strength against opposing tackles. If there is an area where he could improve, it would be in that power section potentially moving to the likes of the SEC. He may need a year in the weight room to do all the things required as an edge rusher in Golding’s defense.

This is a really nice get for the future defense as it now makes three defensive line commits all of whom are four stars. There is always going to be a need for defensive linemen as Golding has shown an affinity to rotate 7-8 guys on the line evolving with the tempo offenses dominating the sport.

Germany to Connecticut to Mississippi is a long journey, but Oxford seems to feel like home for the latest commit. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest additions to the Ole Miss 2027 class.
