As the Washington Huskies welcome a mass of official visitors to campus over the weekend, among them will be one of Jedd Fisch’s top commits in the 2027 class, four-star defensive tackle Jon Ioane.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound product of Tustin High School in Southern California, who is ranked as the No. 185 overall prospect and No. 9 athlete in the class by 247Sports, chose the Huskies over 23 other offers, including California, Penn State, Stanford, and UCLA. Now, he’s become a cornerstone for Fisch and defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi at arguably the hardest position to recruit across the country in the modern age of college football.
Ioane is a unique prospect in the class, with experience on both sides of the ball and not just along the offensive and defensive lines, but he’s also taken some snaps at quarterback, displaying his high football IQ. After the Huskies were able to secure his commitment in late March, his intriguing talent and high upside at a highly desirable position in the Big Ten could make him a strong peer recruiter on Montlake.

“Tends to win with his overall activity in tight quarters as he has the foot quickness and agility to redirect and slide laterally,” 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins wrote in his evaluation. “Absorbs contact with impressive balance…Will uproot blocks with a powerful and limber upper half…Should be viewed as a pesky three-technique that can help create negative plays with his strength, effort, and run-game awareness.”
With a pair of three-star edge rushers also set to visit in Josh Christensen and Jag Ioane, Jon could also make a strong pitch about the relationship he’s built with Fisch’s staff, since it was the first to offer him while it was at Arizona, when he was still in eighth grade.
“I feel like that connection we built over time was something I really kept to my heart,” Ioane told 247Sports following his commitment. “Really just being able to believe another man’s word, I feel like that’s a big thing in life that goes unnoticed, and with that staff over there, I know I can trust them, so I’m willing to put all my chips in.”
Ioane is one of eight commits on campus for their official visit over the June 5 weekend.
