The hot June for the Texas Longhorns continued on Wednesday with the addition of coveted offensive tackle Brian Swanson to the 2027 class.
Adding yet another “big human” to the fold, the 6-foot-5.5, 315-pound tackle from South Oak Cliff boasted 36 offers in his recruitment, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, and Texas A&M Aggies. He decided on a final grouping of the Longhorns, the Oklahoma Sooners, and the SMU Mustangs — visiting all three in May and June before ultimately committing to Texas.
The No. 177 player overall and the No. 17 offensive tackle in the class, according to the 247Sports Comopsite rankings, Swanson is the third offensive lineman added to the fold for Texas and the highest-ranked pledge so far, ahead of interior linemen Kenyon Hemphill-Woods and Jackson Cook. Perhaps most importantly, the Longhorns added one of the state’s top offensive linemen after missing out on some other high-profile linemen in the state.
Texas is slowly climbing toward the upper tiers of the recruiting rankings, currently sitting at No. 17 overall in the rankings. However, the driving force behind the Longhorns’ lag in recruiting rankings is the relatively small size of the class, with just 14 in the fold currently. Expect that number to climb rapidly as the Longhorns continue to add high-end talent to the class throughout the summer.
