Four-star QB Andre Adams explains commitment to Colorado football

The Colorado Buffaloes have officially landed a commitment from 4-star QB Andre Adams on April 14.

According to Rivals, Adams is the No. 165 overall recruit in the 2027 recruiting class and the No. 15 overall quarterback. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback from Nashville, TN chose Colorado over 27 other schools, including Kentucky, which was in the final running.

Adams shared why he chose the Buffaloes over other schools in a conversation with Rivals director of recruiting Chad Simmons.

“Since last summer, Colorado has been a contender for me,” Adams said. “I just hadn’t been out there yet. They were one of my first offers, and they stayed consistent with me the whole time. They made me feel like a top guy.”

Antioch quarterback Andre Adams (10) passes against Centennial during a high school football game Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, in Franklin, Tenn.

Colorado has Julian Lewis, a redshirt freshman; Isaac Wilson, with three years of eligibility remaining; and Kaneal Sweetwyne, a true freshman, on the roster, but Adams explained that during his visit, he connected with the plan Deion Sanders and his staff laid out for him.

“Getting out there and really feeling it made a big impact,” Adams continued. “Their plan for me hit. I like the role they see me in. The vibe was different. It was a feeling I hadn’t had anywhere else.”

Adams was high on Colorado, who were his first Power Four offer, but Kentucky pushed hard to land the Nashville native. He also took visits to Mississippi State, Virginia Tech and Florida State in late March, showing just how real his interest was across the board. Adams explained to Simmons what ultimately went into his decision.

“I looked at all my options, and it just came down to Colorado,” Adams said. “I chose Colorado for a lot of reasons… It’s just the right place for me,” Adams said.

It is a strong pickup for Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes, who view Adams as a potential future starter in Boulder and a centerpiece of their 2027 recruiting class.
