10 Years Ago
Sept. 2, 2016: Windber running back Evan Quinn made sure the Ramblers had a successful debut in the rebuilt Windber Stadium. Quinn rushed for 214 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries, including a pivotal 68-yard scoring scamper that put Windber ahead in a 21-20 victory over visiting Conemaugh Valley.
The Blue Jays had run 27 of the first 30 plays from scrimmage in the second half, scoring 20 points and leading 12-7 until the Windber resurgence capped by Cody Simanski’s 5-yard run.
Conemaugh Valley’s Zack Kent, Tre Butts and Jason Mock each rushed for a score.

Sept. 8, 2006: Greater Johnstown running back Antwuan Reed carried 15 times for 215 yards and three touchdowns as the Trojans beat host Central Cambria 46-27. Reed gained 212 yards in the opening half as the Trojans built a 32-0 advantage. Greater Johnstown limited Central Cambria to 17 rushing yards and forced a pair of turnovers that led to scores.

Sept. 9, 1996: Monday night football came to the area as the aftermath of Hurricane Fran wiped out seven of 10 scheduled games the previous Friday during Week 2.
Conemaugh Valley beat host Portage 40-14. Quarterback Tony Campagna passed for three touchdowns and rushed for a pair of scores.
Meyersdale edged Conemaugh Township 17-12, with placekicker Jonathan Miller producing a field goal and two extra points in a game decided by five points.
Richland shut out Johnstown Vo-Tech 49-0. Tim Lohr ran for 210 yards and three scores.
Chestnut Ridge pulled away from Somerset in the second half of a 34-14 win. Jason Berkheimer caught five passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions.
40 Years Ago
Sept. 6, 1986: Johnstown Vo-Tech tailback Brian Rozich rushed for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and fullback Vince Tomak collected 100 rushing yards and a score as coach Ernie Fetzer’s squad beat Penn Cambria 19-7 at Spartans Field.
Johnstown Vo-Tech rushed for 321 yards and improved to 2-0 following a 1-10 season.
Penn Cambria’s Mike Mazzocco caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from John Plewa.
50 Years Ago
Sept. 11, 1976: Junior flanker Dave Bahoric, a District 6 champion sprinter, only carried twice, but scored each time on runs of 15 and 22 yards as Bishop McCort beat host Conemaugh Valley 28-0.
Bahoric blocked a punt and intercepted a pass.
Halfback Jim Livella produced two rushing touchdowns for coach Fran Zima’s Crimson Crushers.
