Two Indiana players get TRO to return for 2026

Curt Cignetti apparently is an agent of chaos, too.

With so much focus on the apparent intention of LSU coach Lane Kiffin to bring back players who spent time with 90-man NFL rosters, a pair of Indiana players won a ruling on Friday that allows them to return to the school.

Via ESPN, Judge Kara Krothe issued the temporary restraining order prohibiting the NCAA and any conferences from prohibiting the players from competing during the 2026-27 season.

Wrote Judge Krothe: "To be clear, it is the Court's intention to place Plaintiffs in the position they were in at the end of their last college sports season. As long as they would have been eligible, academically and otherwise, to continue playing college sports in the following semester if they had a fifth year of eligibility, they are eligible today."

Another hearing is set for September 11.

The players, Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt, returned to the Indiana program in early August, but their status wasn't clear until Friday.

The Big Ten has yet to deal with Indiana in the same way that the SEC has dealt with LSU, with lots of huffing and puffing and the lingering possibility that the SEC will blow the Tigers out of the conference.

The Hoosier start their season on Saturday, against North Texas. It's unclear whether Daley and Wyatt will play.
