FSU offers top 10 offensive tackle

The FSU Seminoles are getting ready to start the 2026 season later this month, but the coaching staff is still working on recruiting. Offensive line coach Herb Hand is looking for his first commitment in the 2028 cycle, and has offered a scholarship to one of the top offensive tackles in the country.

Joseph Frierdich, a four-star offensive tackle from Carbondale, Illinois, announced he had received an offer from the Seminoles on Wednesday. Florida State is the 19th school to offer him a scholarship, joining the Oregon Ducks, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, among others.

It is easy to see why programs across the country are recruiting him, he has an excellent frame at 6-foot-7 and 260 pounds. He is ranked as the No. 66 overall player and No. 9 offensive tackle in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 6 player from Illinois.

The Seminoles have struggled to recruit offensive linemen lately, and that is something they need to turn around for them to have sustained success. Getting Frierdich on campus for a visit will be the next step as they battle programs across the country for him.

FSU currently has two commitments in the 2028 recruiting cycle, three-star athlete Chayse Brown and three-star tight end Troy Silberzahn, who are both from Florida. The Seminoles do not currently have an offenisve linemen committed in their 2027 recruiting class.
