Quick slant: This is the second meeting between the two programs. In the first meeting in 2023, RJ Harvey rushed for a pair of first-half touchdowns as UCF jumped out to an early lead on the road before Texas Tech scored 21 straight points led by quarterback Behren Morton, who threw a pair of touchdowns to guide the Red Raiders to a 24-23 win. … The Knights have dropped seven straight road games going back to the 2024 season. … A win over No. 6 Texas Tech would be the fourth over a top 10 team in UCF history.
About UCF (4-5, 1-5 Big 12): UCF started strong, leading 24-17 at halftime, but the Knights couldn’t hold on as Houston turned the tables in the second half, outpacing them 13-3, ultimately securing a 30-27 victory. The loss ruined UCF’s perfect record in space games, snapping an 8-game winning streak. Running backs Jaden Nixon and Myles Montgomery each scored a touchdown while safety Phil Dunnam had a program-best three interceptions, including a 43-yard pick-6.
About Texas Tech (9-1, 6-1 Big 12): Morton passed for 219 yards and a touchdown and running back Cameron Dickey rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown as Texas Tech overwhelmed visiting BYU, 29-7. The Red Raiders forced multiple turnovers for the third consecutive game as Joey McGuire’s team remained atop the Big 12 standings with UCF and West Virginia remaining on its schedule.
3 things to watch
1. Texas Tech running backs Cameron Dickey and J’Koby Williams have powered a rushing attack that ranks fourth in the Big 12. The pair have combined for 1,469 yards with 16 total touchdowns, with Dickey rushing for 867 yards and Williams with 602. The Red Raiders are one of just five Football Bowl Subdivision teams with multiple players with 600 rushing yards this season.
2. The Red Raiders have forced a Big 12-best 23 takeaways, including 10 over the past three games. The only time TTU failed to force a turnover was in a 26-22 loss to Arizona State on Oct. 18.
3. UCF has held teams scoreless in the first quarter of seven of nine games this season, with the Knights allowing just 21 points.
