Georgia Bulldogs Face Crucial Recruiting Challenge with EDGE K.J. Green's Visit

The Georgia Bulldogs have been in hot pursuit of EDGE K.J. Green out of Stone Mountain, Georgia. The pass rusher has already made his way to Athens for three unofficial visits, but according to Rivals’ Chad Simmons, he will be back on campus this weekend for an official visit.

The Bulldogs are working to make up ground in his recruitment. According to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine, Kirby Smart and his staff have the third-best chance (6.3%) to land his commitment.

Simmons notes that with growing competition, this upcoming official visit will likely have a major impact on Green’s decision.

“Georgia has worked its way back into contention, but how serious are things?” Simmons wrote. “This weekend is pivotal for both sides. Alabama, Oregon and Texas remain firmly in the mix. South Carolina continues to stay involved as well. This weekend carries significant importance in this race moving forward.”

At 6-foot-3.5, 210 pounds, it’s no surprise the pass rusher is garnering so much attention. Rivals Industry Rankings list him as a four-star recruit, the No. 8 EDGE and the No. 48 player in the nation.

Green is also coming off an impressive junior season at Stephenson High School. In 13 games, he recorded 129 tackles, 40 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, one fumble recovery and four forced fumbles.

Smart and his staff have struggled to recruit close to home in the 2027 cycle. Of the top-15 recruits in the state of Georgia, the only commitment the Bulldogs have landed is four-star offensive tackle Kelsey Adams (No. 11).

That puts added pressure going into their official visit with Green. If they can land the pass rusher, though, he would be a major addition to Georgia’s 2027 recruiting class, which ranks 14th in the nation with seven commitments.
