The Georgia Bulldogs landed a major recruiting victory Monday when five-star running back Kemon Spell committed to the program, giving coach Kirby Smart his highest-rated pledge in the 2027 class.

The 5-foot-9, 205-pound standout from McKeesport, Pennsylvania announced his decision on social media after a weekend visit to Athens. Spell is rated the nation’s top running back and the No. 1 prospect in Pennsylvania for 2027 by 247Sports.

A powerful, compact runner, Spell is known for his low center of gravity and ability to generate yards after contact, drawing comparisons to NFL back Blake Corum. He produced a breakout sophomore season, rushing for 1,681 yards and 24 touchdowns on 157 carries while helping McKeesport reach the WPIAL Class 4A championship. Spell also posted playoff rushing totals of 280 and 274 yards and runs track, recording an 11.17-second 100 meters as a 10th grader.

Spell chose Georgia over finalists that included Notre Dame, Ohio State, Miami and others, according to On3.

He becomes the sixth commitment and first five-star in Georgia’s 2027 recruiting class.
