One of the top quarterback recruits in the country will not be eligible to play his senior season of high school football.

On Monday, four-star quarterback Colton Nussmeier — a recent Georgia commit and the younger brother of former LSU and current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Garrett Nussmeier — was ruled ineligible for the 2026 season during a District Executive Committee. According to Greg Riddle of the Dallas Morning News, the ruling came after it was determined that Nussmeier transferred for athletic purposes this past offseason.

Nussmeier previously played at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas, but recently transferred to Ryan High School in Denton.

The ruling will prevent Nussmeier, who ranks as the No. 200 player nationally and the No. 17 quarterback prospect, from playing high school football in the entire state of Texas this season.

Nussmeier committed to the Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart on June 5. His father, Doug Nussmeier, is the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints and worked with Smart while the two were coordinators at Alabama under Nick Saban.
