The Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers are competing to land a commitment from four-star safety recruit Seth Williams. Williams, who is a member of the class of 2027, was originally set to announce his commitment on July 3. However, Williams changed his mind and still has not announced his commitment.
Williams plans to make a decision prior to the start of his senior season. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety begins his senior season with Lakeside High School (Atlanta, Georgia) on August 21. The four-star decommitted from Clemson in April 2026. He only took official visits to Georgia and Clemson this summer as he approached his original commitment.
Georgia and Clemson have both been recruiting Williams hard. Now, all that is left is for Williams to make a decision.
“It is not really days going back-and-forth anymore,” Williams said in an interview with DawgNation. “One week it might be Georgia. The next week it might be Clemson. But really for me it is more so about not keeping it personal, but knowing what I am going to do before I will go tell somebody that I am going to Clemson or Georgia.”
Williams is a player worth fighting over. He is the No. 25 safety prospect in the country and the No. 22 recruit in Georgia.
The Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart are probably a little more desperate to land the Lakeside star. Georgia has no defensive back commitments in the class of 2027 and is running out of time to put together a strong defensive backs class as early signing day approaches in December.
