Georgia replaces Texas at top of college football's NCAA Re-Rank 1-138

There’s an SEC team atop the USA TODAY Sports NCAA Re-Rank 1-138, but it’s not Texas.
Georgia takes over at No. 1, bumping the Longhorns back one spot to No. 2 and Notre Dame to No. 3, after beating Oklahoma 41-13 for a fourth win in a row by at least 28 points.
Texas has played a significantly tougher schedule, beating Ohio State and Tennessee, the second on the road. In comparison, Georgia has Power Four wins against Arkansas and Oklahoma. But the Bulldogs have looked like the best team in the country on both sides of the ball.
No. 4 Miami and No. 5 Ohio State round out the top five. The most notable riser in this week’s re-rank is No. 6 Florida, which climbs 11 spots after a 52-28 win against No. 8 Mississippi.
Indiana drops four spots to No. 10 after a narrow win against Northwestern. The defending national champions have not looked very good through four games but could easily shift into another gear in October.
Also in the Big Ten, Oregon climbs 11 spots to No. 21 after beating USC thanks to backup quarterback Dylan Raiola. The Trojans fall to No. 22.
This is an ugly re-rank for several teams expected to compete for the College Football Playoff. That includes No. 32 Penn State (down 17), No. 42 Louisville (down 23), No. 45 Washington (down 15), No. 47 Texas A&M (down 16) and No. 48 Oklahoma (down 19).
