The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into the weekend trying to get to 5-0 and 3-0 in SEC play after getting off to an absolutely dominant start to the first month of the season.

While things have not been very competitive so far on the field this fall, off the field has gotten very interesting on the recruiting trail. When it comes to the gem of their 2027 class, it sounds like the race is not quite over yet and the Dawgs are going to have to hold on for dear life through the end of his recruitment.

One of the most in the know recruiting experts in Steve Wiltfong of Rivals reported on Thursday that major programs including his home state school Penn State as well as Virginia Tech and USC have not stopped their pursuit despite Spell insisting he is locked in with Georgia.

Spell Still Being Pursued Heavily by Penn State, Virginia Tech and USC

Spell's father told Rivals that while the entire family loves the Bulldogs program, other programs have remained involved and those talks are normal and standard, always happening on the recruiting trail even for players committed elsewhere. USC is even trying to get him on campus for an official visit and believes they have a shot to do that.

Penn State, who Spell was previously committed to, is still pushing as are the Hokies and Trojans, but coming off another visit to Athens and with another potentially set for later this month, his actions do not scream any interest in other programs.

It should also be noted that Spell reacted directly to Wiltfong's report, shutting down the speculation and saying "Go Dawgs."

What Kind of Skillset Spell Will Bring to Georgia

Spell is rated as the No. 1 running back in the nation as well as a top-ten overall player after a decorated high school career which is starting to wind down in his senior season. Standing at just 5-foot-9 but weighing over 200 pounds, Spell has a rare blend of speed and power and is extremely difficult to get on the ground.

The Dawgs holding on to Spell would give them potentially the next superstar running back on campus, and while he may not play a ton as a true freshman, he will absolutely be a significant part of the offense down the road.

It seems like they have a great chance at doing just that as Spell continues to visit Georgia over and over again.
