The start of the 2026 Kentucky Wildcats football season is now just 80 days away, and fans are excited to see the beginning of the Will Stein era. It's an exciting time, and we're counting down the days one-by-one. As we count them down, we are also getting to know the players that will take the field this season, and wearing No. 80 will be Ashton Cozart.
Cozart is a 6'3", 202 lb wide receiver originally out of Texas. He was a highly sought-after recruit, ranked No. 237 overall in the 2023 class by 247Sports. He committed to the Oregon Ducks out of high school, and figured to become a big part of their offense.
After redshirting in his first year, Cozart transferred to SMU where he played in four games and caught one pass in 2024. He then transferred again, this time to Kentucky. He didn't get on the field last season, but rather than transfer again, he elected to return to Lexington for the 2026 season.
Heading into this season, Cozart is looking to prove himself, and live up to the expectations set for him as a recruit. The Wildcats have a lot of talent at receiver, but no proven star. Cozart will have every chance to work his way into the rotation and even become a major contributor.
