It’s time to start preparing for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era.

Up next is…

Name: Byron Washington

Position: Offensive line

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6’7”

Weight: 400 lbs.

Hometown: DeSoto, TX

High School/Previous College: DeSoto High School

2025 stats: Played nearly 400 snaps across nine games, including three starts, at right guard. Finished with a 51.8 run block and 48.5 pass block, according to Pro Football Focus.

2026 projections: As of now, Washington remains an intriguing building block for the Syracuse offensive line. He certainly has the height and size to play on the interior. The big question: can he elevate his performance from year one to year two? Washington definitely enters the 2026 season as one of the biggest x-factors for the Orange. For now, assume he’ll at least start on day one of the year, most likely at right guard.

How’d he get here?: Committed to the Orange in March 2024 over offers from Texas, Oregon, Duke, Houston, Arizona State, and several other schools.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars on 247Sports, ESPN, and On3
