Gunner Stockton snubbed in College Football 27's quarterback ratings

The top 10 quarterback ratings for the popular EA Sports video game “College Football 27” are out, and there is a surprising omission. Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton is not one of the top 10-rated quarterbacks in the game. It turns out Stockton has opted out of being in the game. The game will release on all platforms on July 9, 2026, with MVP+ members having access on July 2, and people who pre-order the MVP Bundle and Deluxe Edition getting it on July 6.

It’s bizarre to comprehend why Stockton isn’t considered one of the top-10 quarterbacks, especially with how he did and the people on the list. Stockton threw for 2,894 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just five interceptions on 386 passing attempts. He also had a 150.6 passer rating and 7.5 yards per attempt.

That season earned him the seventh-most votes for the Heisman Trophy last season. Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza ultimately won the award, along with the national championship. Julian Sayin, who was No. 4 in Heisman votes last season, is the second-highest rated quarterback, with a 94 rating.

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is the only other returning quarterback that was top 10 in Heisman votes last season and has a top 10 rating in CFB 27. Still, he had the eighth-most votes, lower than Stockton’s, and he has the third-highest rating among quarterbacks (93).

Everyone else on the list didn’t earn Heisman votes, yet they have higher ratings than Stockton. Dante Moore probably should’ve earned a Heisman vote, with a solid 3,515-yard, 30-touchdown season last season. The developers at CFB27 rewarded him with the highest rating among quarterbacks (95).

However, some quarterbacks in the top 10 had a lower passer rating than Stockton last season. Noah Fifita (147.2) and Arch Manning (144.9) had lower passer ratings than Stockton, and John Mateer and Sam Leavitt didn’t even play a full season.

There are four SEC quarterbacks on this list: Chambliss, Manning, Leavitt, and Mateer. Only Manning had more passing touchdowns than Stockton among the four, although Leavitt transferred from Arizona State. Among every SEC quarterback with more than 300 passing attempts, Chambliss is the only one with less interceptions (three) than Stockton (five).
