The highly anticipated College Football matchup between LSU and Ole Miss is just hours away and we have predictions from ESPN’s College Gameday crew.
Lane Kiffin, who was with Ole Miss for six years before controversially leaving them to join LSU in the middle of a playoff run, returns to the college for the first time, which is why all of CFB’s eyes are going to be on this encounter.
Kiffin changed the culture at Ole Miss and led them to their most successful stint in CFB. However, what led to hatred among the fans was the way he left the program in the middle of a playoff run.
LSU have started this year on top, and looks like a contender to win it all, but they will have a firm test in Ole Miss, with the crowd pumped up and the atmosphere in Oxford, Mississippi, extremely vibrant for this game.
The College Game Day crew started their program early, and even locked in their predictions for the matchup with Pat McAfee giving home fans in Oxford a lot to cheer about.
McAfee picks Ole Miss to win over LSU
Former NFL player and ESPN host Pat McAfee has been open about his feelings on LSU winning the national championship.
He spoke to coach Lane Kiffin in the build-up to the first game day and even then expressed how excited he was to see how well LSU do this year.
When asked to make his prediction, however, McAfee got soaked in the loud Oxford crowd and picked Ole Miss to win the game.
“I said last week that LSU was gonna win the National Championship.. This stadium is gonna be upside down tonight and ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.. I GUESS THE QUESTION WE’VE GOTTA ASK IS… ARE YOU READY… GIVE ME OLE MISS TO BEAT LSU AND LANE KIFFIN,” tweeted McAfee.
He said on the program, “I actually said last week that I think LSU will win the national championship by 50 points, what could lil Pete Goulding and Ole Miss do against a team I have been talking about like that?
“Well you step foot in this incredibly hot state, you feel the energy from these fine folks, you feel that hate can certainly motivate and it does feel like in college football and if that stadium is upside down, anything can happen.”
A guest on the Gameday show was actor and producer Morgan Freeman, who is an Ole Miss fan. McAfee even joined in on the famous Ole Miss chant, thanking the crowd for their hospitality.
The fans will be hoping that McAfee’s prediction does come up right and Ole Miss secures the win in this matchup that seems like more than just a game for the program.
