NFL Draft prospect Jeremiah Smith sets Ohio State receiving record

Ohio State football has a long history of elite wide receivers, but Jeremiah Smith might be the best one yet after his latest accomplishment.

The Buckeyes are still reeling after their shocking Week 2 loss against Texas. However, Smith and Ohio State are in a much better place this weekend against Kent State.

Smith is now the all-time receiving record holder at Ohio State following another stellar first half on Saturday. The future NFL Draft prospect becomes the Buckeyes wideout with the most receiving yards in school history.

Smith passes previously Ohio State star Michael Jenkins, who spent nearly a decade in the NFL. The Buckeyes wideout now has over 2,898 yards after his first-half performance versus Kent State.

The college football stud receiver is projected to be an early draft pick in 2027, according to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. Smith is one of several notable WR prospects coming out next spring alongside Texas star Cam Coleman and Miami’s Malachi Toney.

Ohio State is known for producing elite pass catchers that translate to the next level. Current NFL stars that started their careers in the Big Ten include Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Emeka Egbuka and Carnell Tate.

Meanwhile, the school’s also featured NFL legends at the position like Cris Carter, Santonio Holmes and Terry Glenn.
