Ole Miss football head coach Pete Golding lured back Lane Kiffin into the conversation around the Rebels. Including clearing up that he and Kiffin are still on good terms despite his much-publicized departure for LSU. However, Golding dropped a Kiffin reference in trying to lure back Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy at quarterback and running back, respectively.
Golding shared that story during SEC media days Wednesday. Chambliss and Lacy started to weigh their 2026 playing options, including possibly joining Kiffin in Baton Rouge.
The now former interim head coach Golding revealed this aggressive sales pitch to both, though.

“Just Google Lane Kiffin,” Golding told them in sharing this story with reporters on hand. “A dude that they would have built a statue here three days ago. Google his name right now. They wouldn’t piss on him if he was on fire, right? And so they’re going to do the same thing to y’all two if you do what?”
Turns out that was all Chambliss and Lacy needed. The latter phoned Golding at 3 a.m. the following day after their meeting, informing him he’s re-committing. Lacy eventually signed his deal to return to Oxford.
The dual-threat Chambliss, meanwhile, took a longer path to return in needing to secure a legal win versus the NCAA. That landmark victory awarded him one more season of eligibility. He’ll now garner Heisman Trophy chatter this fall.
Golding is putting his own imprint on the Rebels. Which features placing integrity at the forefront at Ole Miss. But Golding knows winning the SEC is what fans are desiring more.
